PERFORMER

Mike Caveney has performed professionally for over fifty years and each of his original routines is perfectly suited to his dry comedic wit. He is a member of the most prestigious group of magicians in the world, The Inner Magic Circle of London, England. On two occasions he was voted STAGE MAGICIAN OF THE YEAR by the members of Hollywood's Magic Castle. Mike's talents have taken him from Japan to Russia, from Monte Carlo to Borneo, Australia, China, throughout Europe and South America, and most of the 50 States.

Mike has appeared on NBC’s World’s Greatest Magic, A&E's Story of Magic, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and The Late Late Show with James Corden. The Hollywood Reporter described him as, "...one of the funniest magicians in America." Mike has performed on the legendary Orient Express, at the Sydney Arts Festival in Australia, the world famous London Palladium and was featured at the FISM World Congress of Magic in Brussels, Lisbon, Yokohama, Blackpool, Beijing, Busan, and Quebec City.

During the past forty plus years Mike has published more than fifty books on the theory, history and practice of magic. Serious magicians look to Mike Caveney's Magic Words for important volumes written by some of the industry's most creative minds. The high quality of these books has made them sought after by both collectors and performers around the world. He has been awarded the Literary Fellowship by Hollywood's Magic Castle, the John Nevil Maskelyne award for literature by England's Magic Circle, The Melbourne Christopher Award, The Allan Slaight Award for Sharing Secrets, and a Special Award for History, Research and Scholarship from FISM.

LECTURER

Mike has shared his original brand of magic with fellow magicians in such diverse locals as Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Mexico, Canada, France, England, Belgium, Finland, Sweden, Portugal, Germany, Japan, Spain, Thailand, Norway, New Zealand and Australia. All three times he lectured at the Magic Castle he was nominated for Lecturer of the Year.

AUTHOR

In 1981 Mike wrote Magicomedy, a book of his original routines. Next was a biography of a famous vaudeville headliner, The Great Leon followed by the best selling Harry Anderson – Wise Guy. For his book Carter the Great, Mike received awards from The Milbourne Christopher Foundation and the Society of American Magicians Hall of Fame. He co-authored Servais Le Roy – Monarch of Mystery with William Rauscher and Kellar's Wonders with William Miesel. He co-authored with Jim Steinmeyer MAGIC 1400s – 1950s a massive history of magic published in six languages by Taschen Books of Germany. His magnum opus was released in 2014 as a two-volume set called Mike Caveney Wonders and The Conference Illusions. Classic Correspondence from Egyptian Hall Museum, his series of annotated letters between famous magicians, now includes four volumes. In 2021 (the 100th anniversary of the Sawing a Lady in Half illusion) Mike released Sawing -The Astonishing History of Magic’s Most Iconic Illusion, and in 2023, The Final Conference Illusions, a companion book to his two earlier books The conference Illusions and Sawing. For twenty-five years Mike served as a contributing editor and columnist for MAGIC - The Independent Magazine for Magicians
