If the original book was a nod to the Victorian Age, this new volume has a decided art deco feel and is illustrated with photographs that are in the style of film noire.

A custom-made clamshell box contains a copy of the book along with a hand-numbered, limitation card signed by Guy Hollingworth. Also included is a custom-printed deck of cards featuring a back design created by Mr. Hollingworth. The back design is repeated on the book’s elegantly-printed end sheets. The cover of the box is stamped with the same dramatic image that appears on the cover of the book. No detail has been overlooked.  (limited to 500 copies).

The story behind this book is as amazing as the book itself. My old friend, Fred Rickard had been friends with the legendary Floyd Thayer for 32 years. His dream was to write a very personal biography about Floyd and that I would publish it. When Fred died in 1989, his manuscript disappeared and that was that… or so we thought.

Recently, I was looking through the voluminous files of the SAM Hall of Fame (which have been in storage for many years), and much to my surprise, I discovered Fred’s original manuscript. How it got there, no one seemed to know. Hall of Fame chairperson, Kim Hallinger, allowed me to purchase the manuscript so that I could fulfill Fred’s dream.

Within the files of Egyptian Hall Museum, I discovered two original manuscript. The first was a short autobiography by Fred Rickard and the other. an article by Floyd Thayer about his early life in magic. Both of these historical documents, illustrated with numerous rare photographs, have been added to Fred’s book. I took it upon myself to annotate the entirety of the text.
